I grew up in Spring Hill (Mobile County), Alabama and Pensacola, Florida.
I attended Mary B. Austin Elementary School in Spring Hill, Alabama, Barton Academy and Murphy High School in Mobile, Alabama, and Pensacola High School.

I graduated with a B.S. (E.E.) degree from the University of Florida, a M.S. (E.E.) degree from the University of Michigan, and a PhD (E.E.) degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

I was a Professor of Electrical Engineering for 43 years at the California State University, Los Angeles (CSULA).

I am now Professor Emeritus of the California State University, Los Angeles, and have authored textbooks, and numerous eBooks on travel. I have expertise in history and geography and very extensive travel experience. I also have experience as a destination and general interest lecturer on cruise ships on oceans, lakes, and rivers on cruises all over the world, on almost 100 cruises, delivering around 300 destination and general interest lectures. I have lectured on a wide variety of topics at Road Scholar, Elderhostel, Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes, Senior Summer Schools, Rollins College, Chautauqua Institute, The Villages Enrichment Academy, and at senior residence facilities.

I now live in The Villages, Florida, an exceptionally large (160,000) senior (55+) community in Central Florida, 50 miles north of Orlando and 20 miles south of Ocala.

Throughout my career and travels, I have cherished the opportunity to connect with people from all walks of life, sharing stories and learning from diverse cultures. My passion for discovery, both intellectual and geographic, has been a guiding light, inspiring me to seek out new experiences and relationships.

Whether navigating the waterways of Europe or exploring the historic streets of distant cities, I find joy in meaningful conversation and shared curiosity.

I have one sister, Rhoda, who is seven years older than I, and 2 children. My son, Ronald, is a Senior Financial Advisor at Keck-USC (formerly, Arcadia Methodist) hospital in Arcadia, CA, and now works remotely from home here in The Villages, FL. My daughter, Linda, is the Finance Administrator at the Jefferson School, a Catholic K-12 school in Pasadena, CA.

I am now retired from university teaching, but I continue lecturing, most recently on music-related topics at senior resident facilities.

I also have made over 150 videos for my YouTube channel, and also many eBooks for Amazon Kindle.
